Address: Fast Electronics Lab, Department of Modern Physics, University of Science and Technology of
China, Hefei, Anhui 230026, PR China.
Research Interest: The readout electronics for physics experiments
Professor Liu is one of the first batch obtaining the Excellent Young Scientist Fundation of NSFC in 2012.
He graduated from the Modern Physics Department of University of Science and Technology of China
(USTC) in 1997 with the Bachelor of nuclear technology, and received his Ph. D in Particle and Nuclear
Physics in 2002 from USTC. His research interests are focused on the Nuclear Electronics, various aspects
of high speed data acquisition, high resolution time measurement. He performed his research in building
the readout electronics systems for several particle physics experiment projects, such as TOF detector of
Beijing Spectrometer III (BES III), Water Cherenkov Detector Array of the Large High Altitude Air Shower
Observatory (LHAASO), etc. Now he is the chief designer of the BGO calorimeter, a key subsystem of the
DAMPE satellite’s payload. (DAMPE is the abbreviation of the DArk Matter Particle Explorer satellite,
which is supported by the “Strategic Priority Research Program” of the Chinese Academy of Science.)
